English for Speakers of Other Languages

The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program of A Faith That Does Justice (AFTDJ) serves adult immigrants and others in Boston who society has marginalized. We offer ESOL training to those who have recently arrived in the U. S. and who need better language and social interaction skills to obtain employment and to live successfully in this country.

The program focuses on speakers whose English language skills are at the beginning to intermediate level. Small classes of students meet for 2 hours, 2 mornings or evenings per week for 15 weeks.  Each 15-week block of classes is designed to enable students to advance to the next level of English language proficiency.  Ultimately, students gain more confidence in their daily life interactions and in searching for employment which will lead to better job opportunities.

Classes are held online using WhatsApp and Zoom. In person classes may be available. Details will be provided during registration.
