Emil C. Wick, Ph.D.

Director & Treasurer

Emil is a retired licensed clinical psychologist whose 26-year private practice in the Los Angeles area focused on individuals, families, and men’s groups.  He also provided clinical supervision to mental health interns at a community health center on a pro-bono basis for 9 years.

A member of the Ignatian Volunteer Corps in San Diego, Emil serves on their Regional Advisory Council as well as being engaged in a diverse number of volunteer activities.   He is also the facilitator of an outreach LGBTQ Spirituality Ministry at his local parish and diocese.

Emil remains engaged as the general manager of a family run business, Pocahontas, Inc.  This international corporation is engaged in tree farming in Southwestern Tennessee and he is proud of its acceptance into the American Tree Farm System, an organization dedicated to regulating Sustainable Forestry.

Emil earned degrees in psychology; B.A. from UCLA; M.A. from Cal State University, Los Angeles; and Ph.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology-Los Angeles.  He also attended Loyola Marymount University.  Former memberships include the American Psychological Association, California State Psychological Association, Los Angeles Society of Clinical Psychologists, Los Angeles & San Diego County Psychological Associations, and the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.  A veteran, he served in the United States Army as a translator-interpreter, fluent in German and Swiss dialect.

The exercise of Ignatian Spirituality led Emil to A Faith That Does Justice at its inception. Personally experiencing movement ‘beyond the temple’ to the edges of society in this organization is both awakening and transformational to his ongoing spiritual journey.
